Help the Newcomer -- Again

HELP!!! How do you prepare recipes for posting here? I had asked lavendersage who said she used WordPad. Her post was formatted so beautifully, but when I tried WordPad mine either posted as little bitty plain text or posted double-spaced. If I type it directly into a reply box here, every carriage return double spaces. I tried Microsoft Word, and when the post displayed, it included formatting codes which I had to go back and edit out. [If you will all get me educated, I won't be such a nuisance!] Thanks.
