I'm not sure what recipe you are looking for but this is one I have fixed for years ...well liked...easy!

Crab Dip

1 package cream cheese, softened

1 can lump crabmeat (or two for more crab taste), drain

cocktail sauce

Mix softened cream cheese with crabmeat.  Refrigerate.  Before serving put cocktail sauce on top.  Serve with favorite crackers.

A gentleman I used to work with would bring a big bowl of crab dip to our office holiday potluck.  He always took home an empty bowl.  This is his wife's recipe:

8 oz softened cream cheese

8 oz sour cream

1/2 cup chopped celery

3 green onions, chopped

1/4 cup lemon juice

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 lb lump crabmeat

Mix cream cheese and sour cream.  Stir in everything else.  Stir in a few drops of hot sauce for extra zing.

I know you said COLD crab dip, but I had to share this recipe - Delicious!

Hot Crab Dip

12 oz. frozen crabmeat (thawed) OR canned crabmeat (drained)
¾ cup mayonnaise
8 oz. cream cheese
1 beaten egg
1 tsp. chopped onion
Juice of ½ lemon

Cream mayonnaise with cream cheese
Add other ingredients
Pour into 8-inch greased souffle or corning dish
Bake at 350° for 30-minutes or until light brown
Serve with crackers

FYI:
This recipe can also be served cold/room temperature.
If any leftovers exist, take out of refrigerator, and serve.
But, personally, I enjoy it hot!
It’s a big hit with my family!

Re: Help please, need cold crab dip recipe

Here's an old recipe for crab mold that's delicious. I used to take it to parties at work and everyone loved it.

Crab Mold

1 envelope Knox gelatin

1/4 cup cold water
3/4 cup mayonnaise

1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

8 once softened cream cheese

2/3 cup finely chopped celery

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper

2 cans (regular tuna size)  crab meat (white) or 1 white and 1 claw. These are in the canned fish section.

* Sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let stand to soften.

* Heat the soup, then add the cream cheese, stirring until the cheese is dissolved.
* Remove from heat.

* Stir in softened gelatin.
* Stir in all other ingredients - crab last.

* Pour into a lightly oiled 6 cup mold. (Tupperware is foolproof)

* Rap sharply on table to remove air pockets.

* Cover and refrigerate several hours or up to 3 days.
* Serve with your favorite crackers or specialty breads.

@Qwalker I haven't made this in years!  It's so good... thanks for sharing!  I think there were times I even used imitation crab and it was still good.

This is the recipe I've used for years. I do add the hot sauce and/or sometimes cayenne pepper. I've also used pepper jack cheese instead of cheddar and it's also fab. But if your group doesn't like spicy, I find that you do need a bit of salt and pepper to taste.

Re: Help please, need cold crab dip recipe

I made deepwaterdotter's recipe this morning to take to our Thanksgiving gathering tomorrow.  Looks yummy.

Here's my family's favorite shrimp dip recipe.  I've made it with crab, also.

Shrimp Dip

12 oz cream cheese

2 tbsp chopped onion

1 tsp lemon juice

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

3/4 cup cocktail sauce

1 can tiny shrimp, drained  (or use crab meat)

Blend cream cheese, onion, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce.  Spread on platter (I use a 9 inch Corningware pie plate).  Chil.  Mix shrimp and cocktail sauce.  Spread on cream cheese right before serving.  Serve with crackers.
