@depglass wrote:Love Duke's but we are out of their shipping area so it's about twice as much as Hellman's here. Maybe I'll buy it and try it with potato salad, don't remember doing that the one time I tried it.
dukes is available on amazon in a number of different configurations.
if you are a prime member, free shipping.

@LdyBugz wrote:@CelticCrafter. Geez, it's such a shame they changed Hellman's. Who wants to eat grey goop?! I imagine they've lost a lot of faithful customers, like us. Thanks for the tip on the other brands! I'll have to look for those. 👍👍
@LdyBugz "Grey goop" is the funniest thing I've encountered here. Hellman's has not changed their recipe, and I'll believe "grey goop" when I see it. Don't be so quick to believe everything you read here. But thanks for the laugh!
@Moonlady Maybe take a walk down the condiment aisle in the local supermarket to see what it is we are talking about...

Thanks for the spatula recommendation! Those look great. I hate throwing product away because I cannot get it all out of the container!

I'll have to try Dukes, I have heard of it, but never saw it in my stores, Amazon is a good option.
On the Hellmans label, there is sugar listed in the ingredients, but not detailed in the nutrition facts. Soybean oil is the main ingredient.
Also, Hellman's now uses ingredients "from a bioengineered source". That sounds questionable.
However, the front label states that they switched the jar and it's now made from 100% recycled plastic, which on the back they quote that the jar may look darker.

I won't eat either brand because I can't digest soybean oil and 99% of mayo brands, and salad dressing, are now made with soybean oil. If I need mayo, I eat the Chosen Avocado Oil mayo.
I grew up eating Miracle Whip so the first time I had Kraft mayo, I thought it tasted oily and heavy. I was so used to the light texture and tart flavor of Miracle Whip. I still like Miracle Whip the best but, alas, it is now made with soybean oil.

We always buy Hellmans, but I like Dukes too. A HARD NO when it comes to Miracle Whip!

Hellmann's Mayo is called Best Foods on the west coast and that's the only one I have ever used..

Hellman's for me - never Miracle Whip

Hellmans changed their mayo a few years and lost sales; "slickness" was mentioned. I use Dukes. Some mayos I have tried fall off of the knife they are so thin, some are "goopy".

I did not care for either brand. I buy the Kraft Real Mayo now and sometimes Miracle Whip.
