DD bought this at Costco. It's by Tasty Bite and is original Madras Lentils. It has red beans, lentils and spices in a creamy tomato sauce. Comes in a 10 oz package that can be heated in the mirco wave. Is gluten free, vegetarian and kosher. Carbs per serving is 17 with 6 g of fiber. Sodium not horrible-- a serving is 2/3 cup.  It does have dairy in it but I think it is very delicious over rice for a side dish. Not spicy at all.

To me it taste like  really good refried beans in a sauce--I worked in a Mexican tortilla factory when I was 16--just a small place where I grew up--all sorts of things were hand made there from tortillas to taco meat to tamales and hot sauce and the ladies would make fresh refried bean soup from the enormous vat of pinto beans that was cooking, for us for lunch--man it was good--this reminds me of that. .

Re: Have you tried this brand?

[ Edited ]

We've tried it and thought it was good.  I usually serve it over rice as a side dish.   For a complete meal, I've sauteed some kielbasa to it.

It's a good chili dog sauce.  I've added it to some hamburger meat and poured over tortilla chips to make nachos.  It's also good adding some elbow macaroni and topping with some shredded cheese.

I love this one. Always buy at Costco when on sale. Can't seem to find this particular one in the other stores.

Thanks for the review.  I have seen it but never bought it.  For me, since I usually have some leftover rice hanging around, it would be a quick meal.

When I didn't care about carbs I used to buy these frequently and use them as an alternative to refried beans.

It's currently available in my local Walmart.  Wow - very surprised.

I stocked in some boxes when they were on reward.  Such a good buy at Costco.

These packets are mild so won't make you cry! Cat LOL

Re: Have you tried this brand?

@wagirl THANK you SO much for sharing this review with nutritional content included!🥰 I cook lentils in some form weekly because of the high protein content and I LOVE how versatile they are to cook. I have NEVER met a lentil I did not like, but red are my favorite because they cook so quickly!❤ This sounds like a WONDERFUL shortcut when I need something quick!😁
