Have You Ever Had Russian Pelmeni?

I just was e-mailed a recipe for this and it sounds wonderful, although time consuming.  It is a dumpling stuffed with seasoned ground beef.

I thought the same but I never had a Pierogi with meat in it.

@wismiss  Thanks for sharing! I never heard of Pelmeni. They look delicious. I could see them floating in gravy, butter or soup.

This looks similar to kreplach - a Jewish dumpling like dough usually filled with ground meat or potatoes. Can be fried or baked. My grandmother used to make them!

Had them in Hungary, and Ukraine, but they didn’t call them Russian. 😕

If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, save yourself the trouble and purchase this.  They are delicious!  I simmer in broth.  My father was Ukrainian and my mother made a dumpling SIMILAR to this but it was called varenki.
