This is another recipe via by DIL, who turned me onto the Da*n Delicious site. (I don't think the Q will let me spell the site name ... but the name is what you think). These little sliders are easy to make and I know she also makes for my grandbabies and not just for the sport affecianados.
Simple as can be. Buy a 12 pk of Kings Hawaiian rolls - don't tear them apart, but slice thru so you have a top half and bottom half. Way easier to work with and then you're not fiddling w/ individual rolls.
Ham and Swiss Sliders - Da*n Delicious
INGREDIENTS
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature (I use salted butter)
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (DIL uses reg mustard for grandbabies)
1 ½ tablespoons sweet pickle relish (I use dill relish or omit. DIL doesn't use when making for the grandbabies).
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 12-count package KING’S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls, halved lengthwise
¾ pound thinly sliced smoked deli ham (Any good ham sliced thinly. I use Black Forest ham).
8 slices Swiss cheese
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (I use salted butter)
1 teaspoon poppy seeds* (Optional. Can also use sesame seeds)
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat with nonstick spray.
In a small bowl, combine butter, Dijon and relish; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Spread mixture on top half of dinner rolls; set aside.
Place bottom half of dinner rolls onto the prepared baking sheet. Top with ham, cheese and top of dinner rolls. Brush tops of dinner rolls with butter; sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Place into oven and bake until golden brown and toasted, about 15-18 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes.
Serve warm.

@kate2357 This recipe is similar to the recipe for "funeral sandwiches" I once tried, but that recipe had brown sugar mixed with the butter. I really didn't care for the sweetness of the brown sugar. This sounds much better! Good for a crowd, so I guess that's why they are sometimes called "funeral sandwiches."

I think sliders made w/ King's Hawaiian rolls have been around for a long time. So easy to make and the size is perfect for most of us. I have to say I love cold ham and swiss sandwiches w/ butter and mustard ... so the hot and melty version is a nice change for me.

These are always a hit on a snack-style buffet table. I replace the pickle relish with chopped onion, and add some Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder to the sauce mixture.

I've never made these but have had them -- they are so good! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

@kate2357 If they taste half as good as they look, I'm sure they will be delicious. Will have to try!

King's Hawaiian has a 4 pack roll and a smaller version of this could easily be made to have for a meal for one or two. Which I should think about putting into rotation for us when we have a hot sandwich for dinner.

Great idea @kate2357

I have made something very similar, they are delicious.

@kate2357 And although I do like poppy seeds, I will probably take the optional route and forego them, unless I have dental floss or a toothpick handy. LOL 😁
