Great summer dessert - Chocolate Mousse Pie

This pie always receives raves from my family!   It's my go-to summer dessert.  Tastes rich but uses "light" ingredients.

Chocolate Mousse Pie

4-oz. bar of sweetened chocolate (semisweet, white, etc.)

1/2 cup skim milk

8 oz. package of light cream cheese, softened

8 oz. container of sugar-free Cool Whip

8-inch Oreo cookie crust

2 T sugar

Melt chocolate with 2 T skim milk over low heat - set aside.

In mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar.  Add remaining milk and melted chocolate - mix well.  Gradually add lightly thawed Cool Whip until all ingredients are blended.

Pour into Oreo cookie crust.  Freeze 4-5 hours before serving.  Optional - add fresh berries of choice after pie has been sliced.

Light dessert is no dessert IMO. Go big or go home.

My DH would love it. I'm making an Oreo dessert tomorrow. It's similar to yours but has ice cream in it.

My mother used to make "chocolate cream pie."  Graham cracker crust, chocolate pudding and heavy whipped cream.  It was good!

What do mean by light-low fat, low sugar?

@Group 5 minus 1 - "Light" cream cheese is reduced fat and calories.  You can always use "regular" cream cheese instead if you prefer.

@ahoymate- I tend to agree with you; however, my husband is diabetic and therefore needs to watch his sugar intake.  This is a good dessert option for him (and others) in the same predicament.  You can always make this dessert using "regular" ingredients.  The lighter version is really nice in the summer when you crave something sweet but not so heavy.  Either version of the dessert is yummy - I promise!

@kaydee50 I'll bet that was when Jello intro'd their pudding and pie filling.  They just always did great IMO.!Smiley Happy
