My sister is taking a pre-cooked turkey to a Thanksgiving dinner. She has also been assigned to bring gravy. Any ideas on how she can make gravy with no drippings? We discussed making it with chicken broth but i didnt think the flavor would be intense enough. Ideas?

You make gravy by buying some turkey legs and wings at the grocery store. They sell them that way. Then roast the turkey wings and legs on about 400 for about 30-40 mins. Then put them in water and simmer for about an hour. Add carrots onions celery and salt and pepper. Strain and defat. Make with a slurry of flour and water. Season with sage and other spices. Good stuff. We're smoking a brisket this year. Not turkey fans. So that's how I'll make mine. Look on Pinterest. Probably more recipes. Good luck

Could you add some Better Than Boullion Turkey Base to strengthen/deeped the flavor of the gravy? Just a thought.

I've made gravy using "turkey" broth from a box (I think college inn or swanson has it).
I simmer turkey wings (or thigh) w/carrots, onions & celery with poultry seasoning to flavor more. I've asked butcher for wings or thighs (only 1) from turkey.
Once a hour or so has passed I cool, skim & strain.
Then using equal butter, olive oil and flour* I make a roue (sp) and slowly add hot turkey broth till thickens. I sometimes blend a packet of turkey gravy mix to flavor more. (* I learned this recipe I think from a chef on food network tv many years ago)
I've done with chicken also. Enjoy I love Thanksgiving & all the sides ...

@Misplaced Parisian Yes you can. I didn't know they had turkey base I use the chicken base. Also. You can make the broth in advance. Freeze it. Then make the gravy the day before or the day of thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.

Just google how to make gravy without pan drippings. There are quite a few recipes. Basically you need the flavor of Thanksgiving - onions, celery, poultry seasoning & broth. I think there is a product called "better than bullion" but I've never used it. My SIL uses gravy in a jar. Now that's gorss!

@mare54 Sweetie! Thank you very much! I greatly appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me. Yes, the Better Than Boullion has a turkey base flavoring. I used it for a soup I was making for a potluck. I ordered it from iherb so I don't know if it's stocked at local grocery stores. Happy Holidays to you & yours. Wishing you peace, health and happiness.

do you belong to sams club? they make a good turkey gravy if you cannot make your own.
i make my own gravy from the drippings and from slow boiling water/celery/onions/neck and innards and adding some better than bouillon. thickening that and then adding some milk or cream.
williams sonoma also makes an excellent turkey gravy base. i have used it before to enhance the flavor of my gravy.

Yes, WS gravy is very good. Whole Foods also has turkey gravy you can buy and it's very good and cheaper than WS.
