In past years we used to start a thread every year about foods we can serve for football parties or just sitting around the house watching the games. I was hoping we could start one this year to get some new and yummy ideas. Here's mine to start
Crispy Oven Baked Chicken Wings
2lbs chicken wings, tips removed and drum and flat separated
4 T corn starch
2 T brown sugar
2 T chili powder (hot or mild as you like)
1 T garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350. Prepare a baking sheet with foil.
Combine dry ingredients in large bowl, add wings and toss to coat. Let sit for 10 minutes allowing mixture to absorb into wings. Toss again and wait another 5 minutes or until most of the spice mixture has been absorbed.
Place wings on baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and flip over. Bake for another 20 minutes.
While I love wings and have a soft spot in my heart for the crunchy, fried unhealthy kind these are a great substitute.
I got this recipe from a friend and was very skeptical about the corn starch but I tried them yesterday and it really works to crisp up the wings.
An additional tip is to roast and then freeze the chicken tips, makes great chicken stock. Looking forward to seeing your ideas and recipes.
