Fifth Day in A Row - Fresh BLT For ME!

My patio beefsteak tomatoes finally came in like crazy! Today will be the fifth day in a row I've made myself a BLT with those beauties. Rye bread, toasted, with mayo, thick sliced bacon baked in oven to a perfect crisp, Romaine lettuce and several slices of those wonderful tomatoes. The juice runs down my hands! I've waited all year for this!

Nothing like a BLT with fresh tomatoes. My little cherry tomatoes are ripening like crazy.

@PA Mom-mom :  I am so jealous!!! I dearly love a great tomato. Sadly none of my plants made it ~ in raised beds or patio. Got a couple of pathetic little romas but that's about it. This ungodly heat (Texas) has ravaged just about everything. Enjoy all your harvest (sounds like you are).

I always do the same thing each year! I live in NJ and when the tomatoes arrive, it's BLT's for me. The first week, I ate one everyday. I've tapered off but still have a BLT once or twice a week. Sad now that the season is ending and I will not have one again til next summer - they're just not the same without the fabulous tasting tomatoes.

Enjoy every bite!!

@PA Mom-mom   Ohhh yeah now that's a sandwich!  My son has a friend who has a garden.  We got a 5 gallon bucket of blood red tomatoes.  And fresh "real" cucumbers. Not those tasteless waxy green ones like you find in grocery store.

Yes on the toasted rye bread and yes to all the toppings!!  I too have been eating BLTs, as you said, until the tomato juice escapes down my arm!  This will be it for me. I won't buy those fake tomatoes in the store all winter.  The only ones that marginally come close are the campanari tomatoes from Sam's but it's a far cry from the beefsteak.

Enjoy, enjoy 🍅🥓🥬🥪

@Spacrazy  Sorry your tomato plants got fried. I didn't mean to make you jealous. I wasn't sure what was going to happen this year. I raise my tomatoes from seed each Spring and plant them in pots around the end of May. This year we had a cold Spring, so the planting was late, and therefore a late harvest. It's been super hot here as well. My tomatoes are planted in huge terracotta pots, and they still need about 2 gallons of water every other day.

@nambee  Being from PA, I always believed that it was nonsense that Jersey tomatoes were the best. But, years ago we did a taste test, and guess what? They are! Of course, a warm tomato just picked from the garden is always wonderful, but for some reason, the Jersey tomatoes are better. Smiley Frustrated
