Growing up a strong Catholic in East Chicago, Ind., my late husband was a fierce Notre Dame fan.  Never mind that he married a Methodist, and transplanted our family to small town Kansas.  Fast forward 50 years, and I now have a large family of FIERCE Notre Dame fans who are so excited about this year's National Championship!  To help with the festivities, I'm making a Family Favorite Snack.  The recipe makes a large portion, but it's the second time I've made it recently, and I only hope to keep it hidden until Monday!

FAMILY FAVORITE SNACK MIX (spicy with a hot after burn)

1 pkg corn chex cereal

2 pkgs rice chex cereal

1 can cocktail peanuts

1 pkg pretzels

1 pkg Bugles (original)

1 cup melted butter

3/4 cup worceestershire sauce

2 T seasoned salt

1 T garlic powder

1 T onion powder

1 T chili powder

1 T cayenne powder

2 T Tony Chacher's Creole Seasoning

Stir cereal, pretzels, peanuts and Bugles together (I use 2 large, disposable roaster pans).  Melt butter and stir remaining ingredients into the butter; mix well.  Divide butter mixture and pour over the cereal mixture.  Stir gently to combine, and bake in a 250 degree preheated oven for 15 minutes.  Remove mix from oven, stir and return to oven.  Repeat this for a total of 1 1/2 hours.  When done, store in air tight containers after mix has cooled.  Enjoy!

Go Irish!!!!!

Re: Family Favorite Snack Mix

@lork  Thank you for the recipe. Now this is something I know I would love, just minus the spicy seasoning (reflux). I like the mix - good picks!

Big Irish fans here too!  They can do it!  GO ND!

@lork ... thanks for that recipe...I make one similar but without the extra "kick" but maybe we need the KICK on Monday night.  I'm having an "indoor" tailgate party and might add your snack mix.

CHEER, CHEER for ol' Notre Dame! 🏈🍀🤞

Re: Family Favorite Snack Mix

To te OP this reminds me of Chex Mix which I make every holiday gathering and my family loves and looks forward to.  They actually remind me to make it!  Easy to make but it goes fast once I put it in a bowl, lol.

Re: Family Favorite Snack Mix

We like the Chex mix. I make it with Crispex cereal instead of buying 3 boxes of Chex cereal. I add a bag of Ghardetto's mix, cashews, pecans, more pretzels along with the butter spices mixture used for the Chex mix.

We also like the new Cheddar Ghardetto's mix. They should sell a bag of cheddar bagel chips only.

Super Bowl coming up in one week......here is my family snack mix recipe.....

2 cups Cheerios

2 cups Corn Chex (or Rice or Wheat)

2 cups pretzel sticks broken short

1 1/2 cups mixed nuts

1/3 cup butter, melted

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

In a 9x13" pan mix cereals, pretzel pieces and nuts.  Blend melted butter and seasonings.  Pour over cereal mixture and mix well.  Bake at 250 degrees for 15 minutes; stir gently and bake for another 15 minutes.  Cool and enjoy!
