FOR THOSE WHO HAVE TROUBLE PEELING EGGS

I watched The Kitchen on Food Network last weekend, and discovered a way to cook hard boiled eggs and have them peel easily.  I always have so much trouble no matter what method of cooking I have tried, but decided to give this a try.

Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil, then put an egg in a ladle and lower it into the water.  When all are in, turn heat down to a low boil for ten minutes, then drain and when cool enough to handle, peel them

I was amazed last night that every single egg peeled instantly.  I had never heard of this method, but Katy mentioned it as she was preparing lemon caper stuffed eggs, I am forever grateful.

I haven't had a single egg fail to peel perfectly since I started cooking them in my pressure cooker on a rack.  5 min with 1 cup of water.  Done.

I cool hard boiled eggs in a bowl of cold water.

Then, when cooled, I refrigerate.

When it's time to peel them, I peel them in a bowl of cold water.

The peels easily peel away in the cold water.

Been doing this for years, and, so far, so good.

But, thanks for this new tip (for me).

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: FOR THOSE WHO HAVE TROUBLE PEELING EGGS

I love the egg cooker that I got on QVC. I bought one for my son when he was going to college thinking it was just a gadget. But he just raved about it, so I bought one for myself. The best gadget ever!! It steams the eggs and then I put them in ice water for a few minutes. Bang a teaspoon all over the eggs and the eggs peel like a dream.

@mousiegirl  Thanks for the tip! My favorite method is in an Instant Pot or a steamer. But then, you might get some that are cracked, so not for eggs you are getting ready to color. I will try this method next time and let you know how I did.

We make lots of eggs, and from 50 years of cooking experience it is the best way by far.  Put in a steamer basket over boiling water.  Or just put about 1/2 inch or more water in a pot and cover if you don't have a steamer basket.

It works every time and no big instant pot to mess with, or even a little egg cooker (which I also like--husband doesn't) and no big pot of hot water to cope with.

I use an egg cooker.  No issues at all and no pot, no boiling water and easy peel.

@mspatmac   An egg cooker only handles so many eggs, and I boil a lot, some to leave whole, and some for stuffed.

Re: FOR THOSE WHO HAVE TROUBLE PEELING EGGS

I have a MCM egg cooker from QVC. When they're done cooking, I put them in a small pan and beat them back and forth on the side of the pan, then run cold water over them and peel.
