@Carmie@nosymrskravitz

Thanks for correcting me. I had gone to Wikipedia and found this:

"Duke's Mayonnaise is a condiment created by Mrs. Eugenia Duke at Duke's sandwich shop of Greenville, South Carolina, in 1917.[1][2] While it is the third-largest mayonnaise brand in the United States (behind Hellman's and Kraft), its popularity is largely limited to the south.[3] It is used in regional favorites such as tomato sandwiches, cole slaw, and potato salad. Duke's Mayonnaise contains more egg yolks than other mayonnaise products and no added sugar, giving it a tangy flavor."

I guess they've started to branch out but I've never seen it here in this part of New Jersey where I live.  Hope it comes here. I love mayonnaise and would love to try it!

Re: Dukes or Best Foods

[ Edited ]

Dukes is the only mayonnaise allowed in this house or risk divorce. I might add we live in Hawaii where no one has ever heard of it. Our friends & family in the Carolinas keep it coming to us & when we visit home we take an extra suitcase to bring home a new inventory.

@Starpolisher  If you have a Shop Rite near you, they might have it.  I have purchased Duke's Mayo in Shop Rite while at the NJ shore.  Walmart has it too.

Good luck and thanks for sharing that article.  I had no idea there were more yolks in Duke's mayo.

I've never seen Duke's, Best Foods, or Blue Plate in MN.  It's rare that I use/have Hellmann's (the Best Foods version here), unless I'm making potato salad or a specific chicken pasta salad, or if a relative or friend can't stand Miracle Whip Light (my family's favorite).  Personally, I've taken a real shine to the Japanese mayonnaise brand, Kewpie.  I've seen it at Wallyworld, and at Asian markets.  It runs about $5 for a 17.64 oz. bottle in my area.  In my house, it lasts a long time, since no one else but me eats it.  I've found a few recipes to make a close approximation of Kewpie mayonnaise, but have yet to try one.  I hear making mayo is easy, and am anxious to give it a go soon.  Anyone on here ever make mayo?  Your thoughts?

I don't know if I am late to the party here but I live in the western suburbs of Chicago.  Whenever either of these mayonnaise where discussed I always did a search but they were not available in my area but lo and behold I had the TV on in the background and there was an ad for Duke's mayonnaise!  I quickly did another search and sure enough WM in my area carries it . . . added to the list for the next time I go grocery shopping!
