Do you make Fried Rice?

[ Edited ]

Was watching the cooking shows on PBS this weekend and the lady said she made Fried Rice 2 or 3 times a week because, "you can put anything in it."

How do you make it?

@Zhills   I usually follow this recipe but I use fresh onion and garlic and whatever fresh veggies I have on hand (favorite is cut up broccoli)

I make it quite often and my two biggest tips are these:

The rice should always be at least a day old from the fridge.

Make a well in the center of your pan/wok right before serving and add your egg to scramble right in the pan, no need to cook separately.

Also, whatever else I may use, green onions are a must, added right at the end!

Yes.  I make it a lot for my daughter.  After trying some recipes, I found my own way of doing it that we found is much easier (I'm all about easy) and tastier.  I don't follow measurements...I just eyeball it.

I cook 2 eggs, scramble and set aside.

I heat sesame oil in a pan (about tablespoon)

I use bagged frozen peas with carrots and a bag of frozen onion.  Just put in what I like (about 1 cup of peas with carrots and 1/2 cup of onion)

When tender I add in rice.  This is important...rice must be cold.  I use left over rice from a previous meal and put in fridge in plastic bag.

When warmed,  I add soy sauce.

Add egg, a little more soy sauce and there you have it.

I have no idea why but I'm addicted to Trader Joes Chicken Fried Rice, its the taste for some reason and I can't duplicate it.

My Schwans driver has bags of it on his truck. I buy it to stretch out Chinese meals.

No, I don't make traditional rice or fried rice. I use cauliflower rice in some recipes.

My friend tells me to make fried rice at the end of the week and whatever protein and vegetables that are left over, in your refrigerator is what you should use. The rice should be at least a day old.

I agree with the day old COLD rice, but I also think jasmine rice is best.

I used to make bacon fried rice once in awhile. Not healthy. Very tasty. Since gallbladder removal, this is not an item I will make again for myself. Sigh.
