@Zhills No but I love carnitas. My wonderful DIL whose parents came from Mexico makes the BEST carnitas ever.

I'm betting someone here will have a recipe or you could check a recipe websie like allrecipes dot com.

I've checked several and there are so many different recipes.  Some are chunks, some like pulled pork, some like bacon.  I love browned pork.  Wanna try to make them for tacos and just for fun.

@Zhills: Your best bet is to go on youtube. Look for Pati Jinich Carnitas, she makes her's without Lard in the video. But you can use Lard which I prefer to cook them in.

Re: Do you make Carnitas?

I like to freeze any leftovers:

3 lbs boneless pork butt roast, cut into big chunks

1 onion, peeled and quartered

1/3 cup orange juice

2 tbsp lime juice

5 tsp minced garlic

1 tbsp cumin

1 tbsp dried oregano

2 tsp salt

1 1/2 tsp pepper

2 bay leaves

Stir everything in big slow cooker.  Cover and cook for 6 hours on high.

Remove pork to platter and shred.  Serve with flour tortillas and desired toppings.

Mmmmmmm!  I love carnitas (Latino pulled pork) sandwiches and tacos.  But I buy them, I do not make them, sorry!

@Zhills   There are many ways to make carnitas,  Mad Hungry has a good recipe, but look around for something you think you would like.

Made my Carnitas this afternoon.  They are delicious!

Used parts of several recipes @deepwaterdotter was one.

If you have never made them and you like Pork and Tex-Mex, gotta try them!  Worth the effort!

Got enough for Tacos and Carnita (pulled pork) sandwich.  Different flavor than BBQ!
