Do You Have A Favorite Hummus?

I love hummus, but I especially love two kinds I get at Target.  I know other places sell them, too.

Sabra TACO hummus, great taco flavor for something different, and...

Sabra OLIVE TAPENADE hummus with chopped olives and kind of a Mediterranean flavor.

I just had a favorite sandwich of smashed avocado, taco hummus and a slice of thin mozzarella cheese in between the two.

What are others doing with hummus, and what flavors have you found?

Sabra Classic.  I also like to make my own:

3 tbsp lemon juice

1/4 cup water

6 tsp tahini, stirred well

2 tbsp extra-virgin olive

1 14-oz can chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1 clove garlic, minced

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp ground cumin

Mix lemon juice and water in small dish.  Whisk tahini and 2 tbsp oil in small dish.  Process chickpeas, garlic, salt, and cumin in food processor for 15 seconds and scrape down sides of bowl.  Add lemon juice and water as processor is running.  Scrape bowl and process for 1 minute.  Add oil and tahini with machine running until mixture is smooth and creamy.

Re: Do You Have A Favorite Hummus?

I always preferred Sabra Pine Nut Hummus, but once I began buying made-from-scratch hummus from a local restaurant (The Lebanese Kitchen), I cannot stomach store-bought hummus.

It is easy to make, and I really should make my own, but I find I just stop by The Lebanese Kitchen when I want some.  (I love their homemade pita that comes with an order of hummus.)

Yes. It's from a local company and it sold in grocery and Whole Foods stores in the central Texas area. It's called Grandma's Hummus and it's plain hummus but with more garlic than others. It's just really good stuff. I also like Roasted Red Pepper Hummus.

Some nights after work I will stop by the market and grab a tub of Grandma's Hummus and a big container of cherub tomatoes and just have those for dinner. I also like hummus with baby carrots.

I love the roasted red pepper and the olive tapenade.

Sabra is very good, but I've bought several brands and haven't had a bad one in either of these flavors yet.

These used to be 'exotic' choices in hummus, but they've really gained in popularity in the past decade. Even Aldi has added hummus in these flavors to their cooler.

I love all things hummus and am really enjoying the dessert ones like dark chocolate, brownie batter and snickerdoodle.
