I watched Sunday and the were demoing the insta pot. The Mac and cheese came up and he said this is in my newest book. So easy and you don’t cook the noodles. Hmmm
well you cook the noodles first for six minutes and then add all the other ingredients after you have quick released the pressure. Lot of messing.

I'm not a huge fan of mac and cheese even at its gourmet best but that cooking method with the pressure cooker makes the most disgusting, sticky mess. You might get kids to eat it but no adult with a lick of sense would touch it.

I have nothing constructive nor negative to say about M & C except I've never jumped over the moon for the dish. Always seems to lack some.....thing. Don't know what; but, to me, it's just gut filling.
Sorry David - M & C and extra bacon = is all yours! (tired of hearing his love for it)

Sorry David. The best mac and cheese is baked the old fashioned way. My mother cooked the noodles, crumbled up saltine crackers, and added big chunks of cheese and butter, covered with half and half, sprinkled the top with coarsely ground black pepper and baked for an hour or more. Loved it.
ETA: She also added a little finely chopped white onion.

@fthunt: I was never a fan either, and I had a mother who made it from scratch LOL. I became a fan after eating Fleming's Steakhouse chiptole mac and cheese. I found the recipe online and have made it for holidays ever since. Delicious!!!

Would you mind sharing that recipe?
I am always looking for the next best recipe!
My family loves M&C, but they only get it on special occassions!
In our house, we may smoke it but NEVER bake it!
I have never tried any pasta in my IP yet. Something just doesn't seem right about that! LOL In demos, it always looks mushy to me! We prefer Al Dente.

Why are they putting noodles in macaroni and cheese? That seems odd and I guess you'd have to break them up. I'd use macaroni or rotini. I actually prefer rotini sometimes. ![]()
