If you are a chocolate lover this is for you.

7 oz 70% dark chocolate, coarsely chopped, about 1 cup
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup sugar
pinch of Kosher salt
1 t vanilla

Combine cream, milk, sugar and salt in a heavy bottom small saucepan. Cook over medium heat whisking occasionally. Just before it comes to a boil remove from heat and pour over chopped chocolate in a medium sized bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes. Then whisk until the hot cream and chocolate are completely combined and no more flecks can be seen. Pour the mixture into a shallow pan or bowl and place in fridge to chill thoroughly - I do overnight.

When mixture is cold, whisk in the vanilla. Pour into ice cream maker and process according to directions. Transfer to a container, cover tightly and freeze until the ice cream is firm (at least 4 hours).

This time I stirred in 1-1/2 cups of pitted chopped cherries just before mixture was put in fridge to chill. If you wanted to add something denser (like nuts, etc) you would add them just at the end of processing in ice cream maker. It is wonderful just plain or with hot fudge or caramel topping.
