Crunchy Baked Asparagus

[ Edited ]

A relatively upscale chain of restaurants in town makes fried asparagus as a house specialty.  Popular and  absolutely delicious.

Today's metro newspaper features a recipe for making something similar.--baked instead of fried.

The restaurant's asparagus seems to be shaved or slivered.  This recipe calls for medium-thick whole stalks.

Recipe should be read carefully.......a shortcut when coating the stalks  might not work, but the directions look straightforward.  I will try this, and if you have never experienced fried asparagus done right, this baked version seems worthy of  consideration.

@novamc1 I have made these and they were delicious.  I think the only difference in the recipe I made was that the asparagus spears were up on a rack instead of directly on a foil lined sheet but I would highly recommend giving these a try!
