A relatively upscale chain of restaurants in town makes fried asparagus as a house specialty. Popular and absolutely delicious.
Today's metro newspaper features a recipe for making something similar.--baked instead of fried.
The restaurant's asparagus seems to be shaved or slivered. This recipe calls for medium-thick whole stalks.
Recipe should be read carefully.......a shortcut when coating the stalks might not work, but the directions look straightforward. I will try this, and if you have never experienced fried asparagus done right, this baked version seems worthy of consideration.

@novamc1 I have made these and they were delicious. I think the only difference in the recipe I made was that the asparagus spears were up on a rack instead of directly on a foil lined sheet but I would highly recommend giving these a try!
