@Calibeach, sorry. I haven't made homemade soup in a couple years. Not since I discovered a local restaurant that does it better than anything I made. I buy theirs to go by the quart.

But when I did make chowder the last time I used the American Test Kitchen version from a few years ago. Think they called it the Woodman version. Of course I tweaked it.  Less onion, added half cup celery and half cup carrots for color. Sometimes if I had bacon on hand I would brown and crumble, then use less salt in the recipe.

@Etoile308  thank you, I am reviewing. Soup will be a nice starter/appetizer. I've been to events where soup has been served in small cups or chilled ones in small glasses to sip on.

@Calibeach.  I wish I could waltz into a seafood market and buy a dungeness crab.  Although I've eaten them on a cruise, I've never even seen one on the "hoof".   They are delicious.

@Calibeach

We grew up in SF having Dungeness holiday time and throughout the year.

Simple sides of fresh cut up vegetables, pepperoncini sourdough bread prosciutto dried salami and soft spreadable cheeses.

Yum can hear and smell the ocean now Smiley Happy

They are so delicious. We'd go to the piers in Half Moon Bay or Monterey when the fishing boats came in and buy directly from the boats.

Can't get any better than fresh seafood sourdough bread and a cold beer. Smiley Happy
