Do you wrap them altogether in one sheet of foil?

I use my crock pot all the time, and I don't think many people know this trick:  you can use it as a mini-oven,  I wrap sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, beets, carrots in foil (I usually cut them in half) and put on high for 2-3 or so hours (for me it seems once I can smell them they are done, but you can check and put them back in if not) and they come out like oven roasted.  NO water in the crock pot, put them in dry.  A trick a friend told me years ago and I've done it hundreds of times.

I seem to recall reading about this trick years ago, but it evidently didn't sink in because I never tried it.

But shortly after reading your post, I wrapped up four spuds and put them in the old crockpot.

yes.  and I do them separately but you can pile them up Smiley Happy  its really great in the summer so you don't have to turn the oven on.
