Wow, I had totally forgotten that recipe.  My mom and grandma made that in the 1970's.  Actually recall it being pretty tasty.

My son has a tee with a pic of a head of lettuce with a frown-face that says "Lettuce: Taste of Sadness".

He hates lettuce and doesn't eat mayo so that recipe is likely not to be revisited in this house.

I love creamed lettuce!  My mother used to make it and I haven't made it in years.  The vinegar and cream (I use sour cream) do not curdle.  It does seem to be Amish in origin, not that we're Amish!  It's pretty much the same dressing I use for creamed cucumbers, another favorite.

This is the list of ingredients I found for creamed lettuce.  I don't think I am going to make it.  Not appealing at all.

Doesn't sound appealing to me either.  Not a fan of wilted lettuce on any sandwich.

Never heard of it. Sounds like you would end up with soggy wilted lettuce salad? 

I rather eat a crunchy salad.

i like some "sweet salads." love the combination of salty, sweet, sour.

some of my favorite dressings have sugar or honey in them.

fresh fruit in a salad itself is yummy.

raspberry vinaigrette, honey mustard, champagne vinagrette, sweet and sour dressing, and more.
