This idea apparently first appeared in a leaflet in Pillsbury flour. Like the Bisquick Impossible Pie recipes, there are tons of variations and they are all simple to make. I always think some additional herbs/spices make these even better.

Crazy Crust Dinners
Servings: 4

Crazy Crust Recipe:
1/2 c flour, all-purpose
1/2 t salt
1/2 t baking powder
1/4 c shortening
1/2 c sour cream
1 egg

Mexican Dinner
1 lb ground beef, lightly browned, drained
1 t salt
2 t chili powder
1/2 t Tabasco sauce
1/2 c onion, chopped fine, or
2 T onion flakes
16 oz (2 c) kidney beans, undrained
6 oz can tomato paste

1/2 c lettuce, finely chopped
1/2 c tomato, finely chopped, 1 medium
1/2 – 1 c cheddar cheese, shredded

Beef and Bean Dinner
1 lb ground beef, lightly browned/drain
1/4 t Tabasco sauce
2 t Worcestershire sauce
1/4 c onion, finely chopped, or
1 tablespoon onion flakes
16-oz can baked beans
6 oz tomato paste
1 – 1/12 c cheddar cheese, shredded

Barbecued Beef Dinner
1 lb ground beef, lightly browned, drain
1/2 c green pepper, chopped
1 T mustard
2 t Worcestershire sauce
1/4 c onion, chopped, or
1 T onion flakes
1/2 c catsup
1 1/2 - 2 c cheddar cheese, shredded


Italian Beef and Cheese Dinner
1 lb ground beef, lightly browned/ drained
1 t salt
1 t oregano
1/4 t garlic powder
1/4 c onion, chopped or
2 tablespoons onion flakes
1/2 c olives, chopped, if desired
6 oz tomato paste
4 oz can mushrooms, undrained
1 – 1 1/2 c mozzarella or cheddar cheese, shredded

Cheese and Corn Dinner
1 1/2 c luncheon meat, cubed, or
6 1/2 oz tuna in water, drained
1/2 c whole corn, drained
1/4 c onion, chopped, or
1 T onion flakes
1 c cheddar cheese, shredded
1 egg
1 T flour
3/4 c milk
1/2 t Worcestershire sauce

Crust:
Combine all ingredients in medium bowl. Stir until well blended, about 60 - 70 strokes. Batter will be slightly lumpy. Lightly grease and flour bottom and sides of 9-inch metal or 10-inch glass pie pan. Spread batter thinly on bottom and thickly up sides to within 1/4-inch of pan rim. Fill and bake at 425-deg F. Cool dinners 5 minutes before serving.

For Mexican Dinner:
Combine all ingredients except lettuce, tomato, and cheese.
Mix thoroughly. Spoon into crust. Bake 20 to 30 minutes until
crust is deep golden brown. Sprinkle with cheese, tomato, and
lettuce.

For Beef and Bean Dinner:
Combine all ingredients except cheese. Mix thoroughly. Spoon
into crust. Bake 18 to 28 minutes until crust is golden brown.
Sprinkle with cheese. Return to oven to melt cheese.
*3/4 - 1 lb of hot dogs, cut in 1/2-inch pieces, may be substituted
for ground beef.



Barbecued Beef Dinner
In large pan, brown ground beef and green pepper, drain.
Stir in remaining ingredients except 1 c cheese. Spoon into crust.
Bake 18 to 28 minutes until crust is golden brown. Sprinkle in
remaining cheese; return to oven to melt cheese.

Italian Beef and Cheese Dinner
Combine all ingredients except cheese. Mix thoroughly. Spoon
into crust. Bake 18 to 28 minutes until crust is golden brown.
Sprinkle with cheese and return to oven to melt cheese.

Cheese and Corn Dinner
In the following order, LAYER meat or tuna, corn, onion, and
cheese in crust. In small bowl, combine egg with flour; blend
in milk and Worcestershire sauce. Pour mixture over cheese.
Bake 20 to 30 minutes until filling is firm.

Notes:
Crust may be covered with foil and refrigerated, unfilled, up
to 12 hours before filling and baking.

Leftovers may be covered with foil and refrigerated or frozen.

To reheat refrigerated dinners; cover and bake 425-degrees for
35 to 45 minutes.

To reheat frozen dinners: cover and bake at 425-degrees for
about 1 1/4 hours.
