When our Puggle was elderly and ill, I used Swanson chix in a can (it's a large tuna size can)

No cooking, no chopping.  Just drain and use a fork.

I mixed it into her rice etc.

@RespectLife

A can of chicken is also handy when making soup, if you want to add more protein to what's already in the pot.

It's "instant protein".

@MILKI

I feed my dog homemade food so I do a lot of shredding. Like @Kachina624 I just put my electric hand mixer in the pot with the cooked chicken or pork and it shreds up super fast.

I bought item # K70328 KitchenAid battery operated hand mixer with the flex edge beaters that are coated with silicone so no worries about scratching up my pot or pan.

I also use kitchen shears/scissors (like @FranandZoe ) to cut up meat or other vegetables like green beans for my dog......

We had a puggie "Buster" too and did special food when older and ill.

Really love that breed but they have so many health problems.  Will you ever get another?  I debate about it.

I agree!  I have used it in casseroles, tacos, soup and more.

Mainly since I can't remember to take it outta the freezer!   LOL

Our sweet Condi lived to 17 1/2!  She only developed seizures which got worse only the last year of her life.

Prior, she was never sick!

Loved that dog to pieces, but would never get another one OR any short haired dog because of the shedding!

It was a full time job just trying to keep the house clean.

I would vac and turn only to see it looked like I never did it!

I swear she was like Pig Pen in Charlie Brown....the constant cloud of hair and dander!  LOL

But she was one of the best dogs we have ever had!

I almost forgot about the shedding, it was pretty bad!  Pig Pen, great description.  Ours was a fawn and it was close to impossible to wear black.  lol.

That's great she was one of your best dogs you ever had.  Buster was our one and only dog.  Got him when my now 28 yr old son was 5, thought what a great thing to give a little kindergartner a dog.

Once we got the dog home and settled my son looked at me and asked why we didn't get a cat.  Ha!

Of course we fell in love immediately and had 16 great years Smiley Happy

Re: Chopping chicken into small tiny bits

@MILKI   I have not used this method on chicken but when I brown hamburger, after frying and draining the grease I put it in my ninja and pulse until I get the desired size...I really dislike chunky hamburger.
