Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bark

A friend sent me this recipe, I haven't made it yet, but it sounds just yummy:

Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bark

Use regular cookie sheet and line pan with foil.

Break up and cover the bottom of the cookie sheet with mini pretzel sticks.

Melt two sticks of butter and add one cup brown sugar.

Bring to a low boil. Keep stirring to get thick and not burn.

Drizzle over pretzels.

Put in 350 degree oven for 5 minutes.

Take out of oven and sprinkle 20 oz. (2 bags) chocolate chips over pretzels and caramel.

Put back in oven for one minute to melt chocolate.

Spread with spatula.

Sprinkle salt on top of Chocolate.

Cover with tin foil and freeze 2 to 3 hours.

Break bark in pieces and put in container.

Store in freezer.

"To each their own, in all things".

Re: Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bark

Thanks a lot. I just gained 12 pounds just from reading this recipe. Why is it that everything that's so good is so bad for me?

Re: Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bark

YUM 2!!!! I got this recipe on the forum last year but I have not tried it yet. The recipe I copied from the forum shows 400° & 1 bag choc. chips. It says not to let it boil & this takes about 3 mins. I can see where 2 bags of choc. chips would be even better with more choc. LOL!!! Here is a recipe you might like to try that LBM posted that's made in the crock pot & sounds really good too. I have not tried it yet either.

Slow Cooker Sweet And Salty Pretzel Snack Mix

1 (16 ounce) bag pretzel sticks

4 cups pecan halves

4 cups corn chex cereal

4 cups salted cashew halves

1 cup butter

1 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

Combine pretzels, cereal, pecans & cashews. Put in slow cooker.

Melt butter in a saucepan.

Stir in both kinds of sugar and cinnamon. Stir til blended.

Drizzle over mixture in slow cooker.

Cook UNcovered for 2-3 hours on high til mixture is "glazed".

Cool on paper towels. Store covered in airtight container.

My only question is: are you sure you cool it on "paper towel"?? I would think it would all stick to the paper towel, maybe they meant wax paper or even parchment paper. Other than that it sounds good... ??

Any thoughts?? from anyone. Thanks.

My grandma was from germany - she would make these years ago when I was a child - she called them brutzel bars. You can also use saltines for the bottom if you like, and put chopped walnuts or pecan on the top.

I just pasted the recipe as I copied it from the forums. I don't think it would stick to the paper towels. Wax paper or parchment paper would work just as well if you wanted to use that.
