Chocolate Bread Pudding

2-1/2 c. half and half

3/4 c. chocolate syrup

4 eggs

One Sarah Lee Pound Cake (grocery freezer)

1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 325*F. Mix half and half, chocolate syrup, eggs, and vanilla. Cut pound cake length-wise down the middle, then into 1/2" slices. Arrange slices in a shallow baking dish. I use a 8"x9" oval baker. Pour liquid over the top, getting all cake slices wet. Bake for one hour until puffed and set.

Sprinkle powdered sugar across the top and serve warm or cold, with or without whipped cream.

OMG-this is a must make! One of my friends married a guy from Hungry and she told me their bread puddings were made with cake: I have always wanted to make one with cake as opposed to bread-I think I have found the perfect recipe right here! I love Sara Lee, but I truly adore Paula Deen's Sour Cream Pound Cake, well now I have a most excellent reason to make it! Thanks Vamp! Poodlepet2

It is a really easy bread pudding and one of my kids' favorites. I've been making it for years. I got the recipe out of a magazine, I forget which one. Just make sure all of the cake gets covered with the liquid so it has that nice custardy bread pudding quality. Sometimes a few pieces don't get all the way covered, and that's fine, but they remain just mere pound cake (as if that were bad! {#emotions_dlg.devil2})

Enjoy!

My Mom made the most fab bread pudding. She got the recipe from a Good Housekeeping.

I have all of her recipes, but can't find that one. It was made w/raisin bread, half and half, eggs and coffee. Daddy and I really enjoyed it.

I replaced mine once with brownie bites just to shake things up. Have to be careful stirring or you get chocolate swirls with it. Once I saw the man on Paula Deen's show doing his with doughnuts I decided anything I like is worth a try.

Yes--sorry I didn't specify.
