Thanks for the recipe. All it needs is some freshly ground pepper. I will be giving it a try. What is mushroom soup?? Recipe calls for 1 can cream of mushroom soup and CAN MUSHROOM SOUP.

What type of wine do you usually use?

Thanks again.

**************************I just use my white zin, but you can use anything!  If someone gives me wine and I don't care for it, I put it in spagetti, peppersteak, or onions and mushrooms steamed in butter and wine to go on a baked potato, or meat or this.

this does sound great but I don't know what kind of mushroom soup to get other than cream of mushroom? Is there a regular kind of mushroom soup that isn't a cream? What do you use, thanks a lot, sounds wonderful and easy as well.

I, too, would like a hint about that mushroom soup.........never have seen such a product .......is it homemade or canned under a brand I've not heard of?

Do  you perhaps mean a can of mushrooms--or  maybe  some of the sauteed mushrooms I have in the freezer as a leftover from Christmas dinner?

Thanks for your reply.  I've made a correction.  You can add fresh mushrooms to the soup mixture.

thank you @ECBG!

i think i am going to tweak this recipe a bit......add some chopped celery and parsley (or maybe some chopped red bell pepper).

i dont care for mushrooms, so will probably use cream of chicken or cream of chicken with herbs and cream of onion soup mix.

I don't think my casserole dishes have covers.  Just wondering if it's important for this to be covered while baking.

I think covering any casserole dish tightly with foil would substitute for a dish that has its own cover.

********************Do cover this, Hon.  You don't want your gravy to cook down (and believe me, you'll want the gravy!!!)!

Any idea on how to cut down on the sodium?

Would be good if that could be done

I NEVER use that lipton soup as it is almost all salt. I use instead - worchestershire sauce - a tsp or so and some dehydrated onions that they sell where they sell spices in the grocery store and find the flavor is great without all that salt.I also  almost always use broth instead of water when I cook as it gives everything a cooked all day flavor.
