This sounds wonderful, but I have a problem. I don't eat carbs, for example, pasta. Is there something someone can suggest to replace the pasta in this dish?

Leave out the pasta and add sauteed mushrooms.

Tropics21, Campion gave you good advice. I'd de-stem and de-gill some portobello mushrooms, slice them into thin strips and sauté them. Portobellos will give you a chewiness similar to the cavatelli, I think.

thanks for posting this recipe! i am not a big fan of broccoli rabe so i may try this and substitute broccoli, broccolini, or even spinach.
