Castaway Bars (Tropical Fruit Bars)

Coconut, papaya, banana, pineapple.... a taste of the tropics in these easy to make bars.

CASTAWAY BARS

1 1/2 cup graham wafer crumbs
1/3 cup melted butter or margarine
1 cup banana chips broken into small pieces
1 cup white chocolate chips
3/4 cup toasted coconut chips or toasted shredded coconut
1/2 cup chopped dried papaya
1/2 cup chopped dried pineapple
1/2 cup chopped salted macadamia nuts
1 can (10oz-300ml) sweetened condensed milk

In a bowl, combine the graham crumbs and the melted butter or margarine.
Press this into the bottom of a greased (or foil lined greased) baking dish (8x8 or 8x10)
Sprinkle on the banana chips, papaya, pineapple, white chocolate chips, coconut and macadamia nuts. Spread topping evenly over the crust.
Drizzle the can of sweetened condensed milk over the toppings. Take a spoon or knife and move the milk into cracks between toppings.
Bake at 350F for 30-40 minutes until center is set and bars are golden brown all over.
Allow to cool 30 minutes and cut into bars.

Re: Castaway Bars (Tropical Fruit Bars)

Oh my oh my.......I really can't wait to make these!! Am not too sure about the banana chips as I've had them but wasn't too crazy about them. However, everything you list is available at the nutrition dept. of our local stores and in bulk form. This recipe sounds like the famous 4 layer bar, which I am just wild about! Thanks for posting this! AnneMary
