Re: Carol's Italian Mac and Cheese Recipe

[ Edited ]

Welll, you know what they say........if you see it on the internet, it has to be true.

Every pasta box I've ever bought says 8 servings, and in our crowd , those servings really amount to 10 or 12.  Mac and cheese has never been considered anything more than a side dish to us.  It's not a very substantial or filling main dish if serving a hungry bunch of people.

Maybe the poster is used to consuming double helpings, and therein lies the source of heart attack concerns and assumptions about the size of "average servings".  If so, the poster has a right to be concerned about her OWN health and dietary habits.

Still wondering, though, how to compute calories and fat per serving  in a crowd-sized dish  when no one knows how many ounces of cheese are in the dish, due to the airy volume created when cheese is grated or shredded, and nobody knows how many people are in the crowd..   Never was all that good at math--or at making assumptions and considering them to be facts.

Meanwhile, I hope everyone continues to post their food ideas and that  the armchair critics move on to something more constructive--and intelligent-- than bashing recipes posted by others

Re: Carol's Italian Mac and Cheese Recipe

Good lord people! Get a grip! It is a fat laden, probably delicious recipe, get over it!

Eat it or don't eat it, no one is forcing you to do either!

If it's not for you then fine.

If you want to eat it then fine.

Stop the bickering!

Re: Carol's Italian Mac and Cheese Recipe

We are here in support of the poster that took the time & effort to locate & post a recipe that others were looking for.

Goodness knows with the changes in the Forum we can all see that there are less & less recipes posted lately. We do not need anyone else to stop posting their recipes because of the flak from the Food Police.

And I do not need anyone telling me to get a grip. I'm fine, wonderful in fact!

Re: Carol's Italian Mac and Cheese Recipe

Less and less people are posting because of silly bickering like this!

Who wants to post a recipe and then have people sniping back and forth about it all day long Smiley Sad

Not even close. I don't eat lots of fats and sugar.

Not hard to do. All you have to do is READ labels which indicate the fat content. It's not rocket science.

Oh my gosh!!  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!  for posting this recipe.   I have watched that mac and cheese on Mimi's shows for so long and looked forever for that recipe!!   I don't give two twits what any one else posts or tries

to tell me about fat content.  The ones posting their nasty comments are morons.  We all are smart enough to know how much and how often to eat this!!!  Just go away and leave us alone you imbeciles!!    I  am more than excited to make this!!! Yum to the max!!!!   HeartHeart

Re: Carol's Italian Mac and Cheese Recipe

Thanks so much for posting this recipe - it looks awesome. For hubby and me (retired), I'd probably cut the recipe down to 1/4. For those who are unhappy with fat/carbs, then I'm sure you won't make it. For me, it sounds like a great occasional side dish and a wonderful treat! I'm definitely going to try it!
