Welll, you know what they say........if you see it on the internet, it has to be true.
Every pasta box I've ever bought says 8 servings, and in our crowd , those servings really amount to 10 or 12. Mac and cheese has never been considered anything more than a side dish to us. It's not a very substantial or filling main dish if serving a hungry bunch of people.
Maybe the poster is used to consuming double helpings, and therein lies the source of heart attack concerns and assumptions about the size of "average servings". If so, the poster has a right to be concerned about her OWN health and dietary habits.
Still wondering, though, how to compute calories and fat per serving in a crowd-sized dish when no one knows how many ounces of cheese are in the dish, due to the airy volume created when cheese is grated or shredded, and nobody knows how many people are in the crowd.. Never was all that good at math--or at making assumptions and considering them to be facts.
Meanwhile, I hope everyone continues to post their food ideas and that the armchair critics move on to something more constructive--and intelligent-- than bashing recipes posted by others
