I'm hosting a welcome to the neighborhood luncheon for my friend who just moved in & help her get to know the neighbors (ladies only).
I only know these ladies to say hello therefore I'm looking to have "something for everyone & light".
I thought Ambrosia would be a good choice for a "light" dessert. My friend uses pudding, nuts, cherries, etc. her recipe is very sweet I don't care for it.
I also am making cutout daisy sugar cookie pops. They are just a little extra treat.
Could you share a good not too sweet recipe? I was going to buy it at Publix but expensive & I have16 coming.
There are so many recipes online I'd prefer a tried & true favorite!!!
Thank you the luncheon is next week. I have my menu set but not dessert😮

So nice of you to do this for your friend and neighbors. Ive been in my house 18 years and am still waiting for most of the neighbors to speak to me.

@homedecor1Here's my mom's recipe. It's NOT too sweet.
1 large can of fruit cocktail (packed in juice) Drain it.
Add small WHITE marshmallows
Add 1 container of Cool Whip
It's best to make it the night before. But if you can't, give it at least a couple hours in the fridge (covered) so all the flavors blend. My whole family loved it! The marshmallows really puff up!

1 11oz. can mandarin oranges, drained
1 8oz. can pinapple chunks, drained
1 cup min. marshmallows
1 cup coconut
1 cup sour cream
mix together and refrigerate for several hours
makes 4 servings, so you may want to double the recipe.

I have made ambrosia with the following: mini marshmallows, crushed pineapple in fruit juice, mandarin oranges, halved cherries, shredded coconut and walnuts lightly chopped. I use sour cream to hold together, made the night before and refrigerated to let marshmallows break down and flavors to mix. Serve cold.

I have a few for that, but the favorite one to me is from Kraft. You can look it up on line. I love that salad.
