CHRISTMAS EVE and DAY...WHAT IS YOUR MENU? HELP!

I am still at a standstill as to what I want to make for the Eve, and then Christmas Day. We are two, and I need some ideas.

Nothing too elaborate, as I am only a decent every day cook.

Will be most appreciative for ideas, I can look up the recipes from your ideas, so no need to go through the trouble of posting the entire recipe.

Many thanks .

@Flatbush , For as far back as I remember we have had quiche Lorraine for Christmas Eve. One year I didn't make it and there was a revolt. It's a once a year calorie splurge and the leftovers make a great breakfast ! Believe it or not I got the recipe when I was a teenager in the 60's. Now it is quite common, but then it seemed " fancy ." Oh the recipe came from Cosmo, LOL.

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE and DAY...WHAT IS YOUR MENU? HELP!

For years we have ordered tamales from a local Mexican restaurant to have on Christmas Day.  We all bring different snacks which we have before opening presents.  We eat dinner after opening presents, then have dessert after watching a movie.

I will be making pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, green beans and applesauce.  I make a white wine sauce reduction for the pork.

On Christmas Eve, I do a deli-style meal.  Favorite cold cuts, rye bread, potato salad, cole slaw, and pickles.

On Christmas Day I either repeat the Thanksgiving turkey dinner or we go to our favorite steakhouse the evening before and take out complete steak dinners for the two of us.  I get them slightly underdone so they reheat to the perfect temp.

It's rare that I am home for holidays but when I am, I order platters.

Sort of a Mish-Mash over here.  Christmas eve  Is Swedish Meatballs  and some sort of stuffed Pasta.  Stuffed Shells or Lasagna, something like that.  Dessert is Swedish cookies and Warm spiced wine.

Christmas day this year is going to be Salmon piccata with a lemon caper sauce. Give me a stove top entree and I'm a happy camper.  Dessert is a very fluffy sort of rice pudding with lingonberry sauce and  More Warm Spiced wine!

Happy Holidays to ALL!

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE and DAY...WHAT IS YOUR MENU? HELP!

Christmas Eve we go to my brother's for a HUGE breakfast---seriously, it's like Waffle House in there! I will take 2 breakfast casseroles, OJ & Chocolate milk, and there will also be grits, scrambled eggs, sausage patties and pancakes. There'll be about 25 of us there. So when we get home, we just eat a sandwich for dinner.

Christmas Day we're baking a ham. I'll make mashed potatoes and green beans. Don't know about dessert yet.

It's just the two of us, and we'll eat leftover ham for a few days.  Makes great sandwiches!

Hi.  I hope it's okay to chime in.  I'm making a surf and turf like meal.  Steaks, grilled salmon, seafood stuffing, twice baked potatoes, some kind of green beans.  Eve is just different apps.

Merry Christmas.
