Calling all bakers!

I am looking for a Slice and bake butter cookie recipe.  I went to the Kerrygold and Finlandia sites and they both have recipes and they are surprisingly different.

Does any have a tried and true recipe for this classic cookie?

Thank you!

To me, Spritz is the ultimate butter cookie.  I am sure you can skice and bake those.  You don't need to use a press.

I always go to the experts for a recipe.  Google Land O Lakes.  Type in slice and bake.  They have one but it uses 1 teaspoon of orange zest.  I would just eliminate the orange zest.  Hope this helps

This cookie recipe has been in my family for over 100 years and is passed down to each new generation.  Shhhh, don't tell anyone I gave it to you.

! pound butter

1 pound powered confectioners sugar

4 eggs

4 cups flour

Mix together and chill dough in refrigerator. Then,  roll into a log shape and wrap in wax paper or plastic wrap.  Chill overnight in the fridge.

Slice very thin and bake at 350 degrees. They can be decorated with a brush of milk and sugar if you want.  Watch carefully, they bake fast...check after 5 minutes.  you do not want them to get brown in color

They are on the crisp side.

i use a sour cream recipe to make my soft sugar cookies.  They are a drop cookie.  I can post that recipe if you are interested.

Hi Carmie, thank you for sharing!  Is that salted or unsalted butter?
