I love watching YouTube videos of this woman. She lives in Alabama and posts cooking videos on Facebook and YouTube. She is 75 years old and a delight to watch. She owns a B&B and does a lot of cooking for her guests and her closeknit family. Lots of southern dishes. Sometimes she even does a video walking tour of her property showing all the flowers and trees in bloom.

I love Ms. Brenda and her recipes (or lack of) and her lifestyle in general. Not sure if I was first intrigued with her cooking or of her ~ now, of course it's all.
Closest to my heart is how much she reminds me of my beloved grandmother and her cooking style. The use of lard and measuring it out with the flat of her hand; a flour bowl (which of course remains in the flour barrel); and a large glass container of homemade buttermilk which lives permanently in the fridge. These similarities are why I did not go into shock the first time I saw Ms. Brenda begin to mix in a bowl using only her hand.

Now I'm reminded I haven't watched her in a while so I think I'll go catch up now...

I watch her videos daily, sometimes while I'm cooking.

She's a delight, and I believe has so many followers not only because she's so sweet, fun to watch...but as @Spacrazy you alluded too also...her lifestyle...faith, family, food, fun. She's sincere of heart. I just feel she provides a "comfort" in this crazy world and I do feel people gravitate in droves to these things we're longing for again...a simplicity, sincerity, common sense and good livin'.

Just my thoughts...but I find her a joy to watch. Discovered her during 2020, during a sad time after my mom passed...it was comforting to watch her. She really struck me, the fiirst video I saw on FB...like who IS this sweet woman?!

Just fyi, for those of you that enjoy her videos....I bought her 2nd cookbook this year, "Linger Around The Table" and it's delightful too. So beautifully written, with stories of her family, her late husband, her life...and of course wonderful, southern recipes. Beautifully illustrated and laid out for ease of use. The stories really made me tear up. I've yet cook from it but I will. I'm a "Yankee girl" who in my next life wants to be a southern girl. Smiley Happy

@amyb :  First of all, I love your post and thank you for it. I also agree with all your comments regarding Ms. Brenda. My heart goes out to you for the loss of your mother. I know life is never the same without your mother. Ironically, that's about the same time I found Ms. Brenda. She's great!

If you really want to be a southern girl I say come on over... I believe Ms. Brenda would wholeheartedly agree. For me, I say "y'all come"!!!

Love, love Mrs. Brenda. Been following for awhile and have her cookbooks. She is just amazing.

Also, another really sweet lady to watch is mama sue. She went through a tough battle with breast cancer & is doing so much better. She has a wonderful outlook on life. And one more is Kimmy's southern cooking. She's a precious lady and she's gluten free, if you need that. She will tell you how to make the recipe with or without.

@amyb

I agree that she does provide an element of "comfort" in this crazy world today. I had never even heard of Brenda Gantt until a dear friend of mine told me that I reminded her of Brenda. I looked her up and lo and behold, we do actually look somewhat alike and are close in age. I am born and raised in East Texas and remember my grandmother using an old wooden bowl with flour that stayed in it all the time to make her biscuits.

A lot of Brenda's funny expressions I grew up hearing and, of course, use myself.

I absolutely adore her (and her family).  However, a lot of her southern recipes don't appeal to me and many times the end result doesn't look very appetizing.  I used to follow her on FB but now I just pop in every so often and look through her recent videos and see if anything looks interesting enough to watch.
