Re: Bread Pudding with Sauce

@wismiss   Sounds delish and decadent.  I think I'd substitute 1/4 C of cream in sauce for Amaretto.  Otherwise sounds perfect.  Thanks.

@Kachina624  Would you add your Amaretto while the sauce is cooking or stir it in at the end?  I'm thinking of adding Pecan liquor.

@candys mine    Probably at the end unless I wanted to destroy the alcohol

Re: Bread Pudding with Sauce

My Mom made a great bread pudding w/raisin bread and coffee. I also think she used coffee cream instead of milk. I know she got the recipe from Good Housekeeping ,but it has been lost. I'm sure I could make it today just by thinking about it,but DH hates bread pudding and it has too much sugar in it for me.

Re: Bread Pudding with Sauce

I make a praline sauce (also good over waffles and french vanilla ice cream):

2 cups butter, cubed

1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

3 lbs light brown sugar

1 1/2 cups heavy cream

1/2 tsp cinnamon

2 1/2 cups sour cream

1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Melt 1 cup butter cubes in big saucepan.  Mix in pecans.  Boil until pecans darken.  Mix in other cup of butter.  Take off heat.

In another big saucepan mix brown sugar, cream, and cinnamon.  Stir over low heat until blended.  Cook over medium heat until reaching 230 degrees on candy thermometer.  Stir in pecan mixture.  Mix in sour cream and vanilla and remove from heat.

Maybe if you add a shot of bourbon?
