Sooner, I have always eaten the bread bowl when we were in Boston.  No waste.

@twinny70 Well, you are better than me.  I couldn't possibly do that.

I haven't baked bread in such a long time. I used to love doing it. The only time I made it for a bread bowl was to put spinach dip in it for a party.

@Mindy D , I forgot about using a bread bowl for that. We did it a long time ago with a  group of friends.

@SportyShorty07 Don't you live in SF? I can remember having to travel to my company's headquarters in Sacramento and a group of us would drive to SF and eat at the wharf. The clam chowder and warm buttery sourdough bread was so good. Shoot, now I'm craving it!

@LuvSoCal  I do- born and raised here! I love the clam chowder and sourdough at the wharf and Boudin Bakery makes a wonderful clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. The rainy weather these days is the perfect weather for my homemade soups. I'll have to buy a loaf of sourdough bread to go with my soup. Smiley Happy

@twinny70, meeting at the deli sounds like a good way to start the year.  I will have to see what my calendar looks like, as I work part-time and I need to see when my doctor reschedules my back surgery.  As soon as things get back to "normal"---the week between Christmas and New Year's is so unpredictable---I'll post and maybe we can meet.

wismiss,

Sounds good to me.  I will be looking for a post from you.  Good luck with your upcoming surgery.   We had a lot of appts. last year.   We are both retired which is a good thing.
