No; my family prefers biscuits or cornbread over yeast breads.

I've never made a bread bowl, but now I am absolutely craving one.

Hat off to you.  A feat of baking indeed.  Sounds delish.

Never made bread bowls but I do bake bread. Do you bake them like extra big rolls on a cookie sheet?

@SportyShorty07 ,I am going to come to your house.  Our ds & his dw lived in the Boston area for 25+ years.  I loved going to Boston Market and getting  "clam chowder in a bread bowl.   The last one was 6 years ago.  Now they are living in FL.

We have had snow all day and it is still snowing.  So, I decided to make some bread bowls to put soup in tonight for supper.  I have some chicken dumpling soup that will be wonderful to dunk the bread into.

The bread is in the oven and the house smells so good.  Nothing like the smell of bread baking.

Do you ever make bread bowls?

@wismiss , we had snow all day long too and I am in S. WI.  I have never made bread bowls, but my favorite ones were clam chowder in a bread bowl in Boston.  We have a good deli on our square and they serve soup in a bread bowl.   Next time I go there I am going to get the clam chowder soup in a bread bowl.

@Sooner I'm not a fan of bread bowls because I can't stand soggy bread.

@twinny70   Come on down- I'll keep the soup hot on the simmer setting Smiley Very HappySmiley Wink!! Oooh you and your ds and his dw got to have authentic clam chowder from Boston- that must've been absolutely delicious!  I like to go to Boudin Bakery here in the bay area and have their clam chowder in a sourdough bowl, sooo good!! I make a really good clam chowder, so now I have to teach myself how to make a sourdough bread bowl!

Twinny: T We live in the same town and I know exactly the place you are talking about on the square that has soup and bread bowls.  That is where I got my idea.  I've never had anything at that deli that I didn't like.  Did you ever have their Thanksgiving baked potato?  Baked potato with dressing, turkey, gravy, cranberries, and I can't remember what else.  I had my first one in November and it was enough for two meals!!!!
