@Carmie.  I pressure cook mine but in my whole life I never noticed a smell or found it distasteful or lingering.

@Kachina624   I have never pressured cooked eggs.  I always steam or lightly simmer in water.

Mine do not have a smell either.

But, when I was younger and not experienced, I boiled the heck out of my eggs.  They always had a green rimmed yolk and a bad sulphur smell.

If you cook them  for too long at too high a temp it will make them smell terrible.

There are many good ways to cook hard eggs and they all turn out great.  Just don't cook the heck out of them.

My electric pressure cooker broke years ago, and I never replaced it.  I still have the type you use on a stove top, but it is huge.  I use it for canning.  It would be way too big for a couple of eggs.

@Carmie.  Pressure cooked eggs cook in 5 min and the shells just fall off in 2 or 3 pieces with 100% success.

@Kachina624   That sounds wonderful.  if I ever replace my pressure cooker, I'll give it a try.

My electric 6 qt. one stopped working and the only one I have is a stove top 23 qt cooker.  I use to to pressure cook jars when I am canning.

It is too big to use for just a couple of eggs.

I make hard boiled eggs every week.  Hmmmm I never have a "smell"

I cook them (not boil) using a recipe from Martha Stewart - once done I submerge in a ice water bath - wait 5 minutes and peel.  The shells come off easily.  Works perfectly everytime🙂

I store in Lock N Lock container lined with paper towel.

I love any kind of eggs so maybe I've never realized they "smelled".

I have to admit I was really puzzled by this thread.  I've never noticed any smell with hard boiled eggs.

However, I never boil them the way some do I guess.

I always learned to cover them in cold water, bring to a boil for a minute or two.  Shut off the heat and cover the pan, then let it sit for about 15 minutes.  (It's referred to, where I come from, as coddling the eggs.)

After that, pour off the hot water, fill the pan with cold water and let the eggs sit for another few minutes before peeling.

Never had any smell and no issues removing the shells.

@Carmie As much as you cook I think you would love an Instant Pot!  I tried a lot of PC's before this one and these Instant Pots are so easy to use!

Being just 2, we use the small 3 quart a lot!  But we use the 6 qt. one a lot too.  I think there is an 8 qt as well.  That little one comes to pressure so fast--we do a lot of sweet potatoes in it!

@Sooner   I thought about getting one, but just never did.

I have a whole basement full of small appliances and just never use most of them.

The only small appliance I use every day is my food processor.

My kitchen doesn't have much counter space and very little cupboard or pantry space either, so I store most of my kitchen gear and even pantry food in the basement.

I need to have a yard sale and get rid of stuff....not buy more.  I keep telling myself that..

Now, let me look at those Instant Pots on Amazon.
