Re: Blue Willow Inn Mac & Cheese ~~~

@YouGoGirl1 Thank you for posting the recipe.

I want to try it. It sounds so easy compared to the recipe I have been using for years.

The recipe I had used was similar. The difference is the Blue Willow Inn calls for sour cream and egg. And my recipe calls for 4 cups of milk.

I can't wait to try this recipe and compare.

Mac & Cheese is one of my top three favorite dishes. I could eat it every day! I would substitute nonfat plain yogurt for the sour cream in this recipe. Every fat gram saved helps a little!!

MANY posters have left these boards who took the time to share their favorite recipes.  They were hurt and tired of having their recipes picked apart by unnecessary comments.

I MISS those posters and feel bad they were hurt and left.

It's interesting...if you type in Blue Willow Inn mac and cheese, the Inn has a Face Book post with a recipe entirely different than this one. The FB recipe is not one I would make...it uses Cheese Whiz...which is not something I would use. Although, I have had great casseroles my stepmother made using Cheese Whiz....

The recipe  posted from op does have a lot of cheese and butter, but it also has a lot of pasta. 16 oz of dry pasta is a LOT of pasta. Ina Garten uses 20 ounces of cheese, per 16 oz of pasta,  in one of her mac and cheese recipes.

This is at least 8 servings of mac and cheese.  Mac and cheese is not an every day food at my house.

@RollTide2008

8 sevings seems about right. When I make pasta dishes I weigh out 2 oz of dry pasta per serving.

I made mac and cheese yesterday.  I weighed out 8 ounces of pasta which according to the package was 4 servings.  It served 6 people and had a generous spoonful leftover for someone's lunch this week.  Along side a roasted chicken with vegetables and a green salad, it was fairly sensible meal.

Its called moderation.  Having a serving for a meal  will not give anyone a heart attack.  Maybe eating the whole bowl would be detrimental to your health.

Re: Blue Willow Inn Mac & Cheese ~~~

I did make this recipe and have to say---not the best mac n cheese I have ever tasted. I did follow the recipe--  but only made half the recipe, just in case it failed--less to toss out--but it needed more seasoning and wasn't very creamy despite  all the fat in it --was more fatty than creamy. But now I know and won't make it again.
