Big jar of marinated mushrooms at Costco

[ Edited ]

Bought this about a month ago and haven't tried it yet.  Don't think i like the suggestion on the jar of adding  to salads.  Will probably prefer eating them plain as snack or appetizer.

Tonight I'm going to do something wild and crazy--drain and saute them in the same grill pan after removing  ground beef patties  topped with cheese and onions, although the vinegar in the marinade might not be the best thing to recook.  We'll see.

Anyone else tried these organic mushrooms that come from Paisley Farm in Willoughby, Ohio?   Label says it has been operating since 1945.

Just a suggestion--after draining the mushrooms rinse them a couple of times before sauteeing.  It may help.

Personally, I’d eat them separately.  I love sautéed mushrooms but sautéing these marinated ones doesn’t sound very good.  Maybe rinsing will help.

I'd add some butter or oil, brown some flour and make a sauce for them.  Tart and salty and sounds good to me.

Drain them and make a pizza or an egg scramble.

Add them to a grain salad or pasta salad.  Use the excess oil in a salad dressing.  Skewer them with chicken pieces and grill?  Drain so they don't flare.

@novamc1   Better check and see if they're on one of @Mindy D 's many tainted mushroom lists.

Marinated mushrooms can be used in pasta salad.  Just add some other veggies, meat and cheese, if you like and the mushrooms.  You might  have to add a vinegar based dressing to the mix as well.

One thing led to another to distract me, and I still haven't even opened the big jar of marinated mushrooms.

Think they'll probably be best eaten as a snack or served as an appetizer.

@Carmie

I like your suggestion of adding them to a pasta salad. That might be good.

I've been buying these for months now, ever since Costco started carrying them! LOVE them! I have them every day, from the jar, with my lunch. YUM!

Paisley Farms has recipe suggestions on their website.  Click on recipes and select mushrooms to narrow the search.  Fifteen recipes are listed and the look pretty tasty!

We love those mushies too but eat them from the jar--sauteing them would not work as they are saturated with the pickling liquid--they would just steam. Nice for hors'derves-(sp) or in pasta salads maybe in omelettes too.
