We always had mincemeat pie AND plum pudding. But it was at Christmas. I remember going with my Dad to grocery stores looking for them. My Dad ended up making his own mincemeat pie. And he then graduated to making his own fruitcake.

Our first year living in England I bought a plum pudding at Waitrose, I think. It was soooo horrible and we couldn't figure out why on earth any one ate that. Several days later we found out you were supposed to cook it.
Oops!!!!

Italian pizzelle for sure -- family gets upset if we don't have those at a holiday!
Sometimes I'll also make my mom's cheesepie. It's much easier (and smaller) than a NY cheesecake. She loved to bake and It makes me feel good carrying on her tradition.

ELEGANT FARMER APPLE PIE... OMG, this is the most AMAZING pie that is baked in a brown paper bag. It has huge apples with the most delicious juice and crust. It's made in Wisconsin and sold around Thanksgiving in my area of Northern Illinois.
I even sent two to several of my accounts years ago and they could not believe good they were.
Since it was just my husband and I for Thanksgiving last year (and this year), I bought one and froze half of it. We took it out about 8 months later and it was just as delicious.
You warm it up in the oven for about 30 mins (I defrosted my pie from last year first) .... I'm drooling just typing this!!!!!

Dissolve 1/2 cup mayo and a medium block of cream cheese in 1 cup boiling water. Dissolve 2 large boxes of jello and 1 cup mini marshmallows in 1 & 2/3 cups boiling water. Let both mixtures cool about 20 minutes. Combine mixtures, add 1 small crushed pineapple, drained, 2 mashed bananas and 1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired. Stir well and pour into jello mold or square baking dish.
