Re: Beef-Mac-Tomato -- What Name?

I grew up in upstate New York and it was called "Roman Holiday" in our school cafeteria. Speaking of goulash, my mom made a skillet dish she called goulash. It had ground beef, spiral pasta, canned bean sprouts and cottage cheese. Sounds weird, but I loved it as a kid. She died when I was in high school and I never got many of her recipes. Has anyone else had this? I'm assuming the recipe came from Family Circle in the early '60s.

Re: Beef-Mac-Tomato -- What Name?

I just made it today. Don't think we ever called anything other than Hot Dish or Casserole. Since my DH's mom also made it, I just call it "Mom's Casserole" now. My DH knows what that means when I tell him what we are having.

Haven't read the whole thread. In my part of Ohio it's called Johnny Marzetti. Lots of on-line recipes for it.

That's what it was called in our school cafeteria in the Upper Midwest.
