Baked Beans

2 (20 oz) cans baked beans

1 small can crushed pineapple

1/4 cup chili sauce

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard

1 medium onion, chopped

1/2 lb. diced bacon

Saute' onions and bacon until tender; drain fat.  Combine all ingredients in 9x13" baking dish.  Bake for 2 hours at 300 degrees.  Uncover for first hour.

* I think you could fix this in crock pot on low as well.

@sarahpanda This is the recipe I use also and it requested for our cookouts every time. When I am hungry for baked beans but dont need the big recipe, I use Bushs baked beans with onions and then add a Tbsp of so of BBQ saue and some bacon bits and let them simmer for a while.

I finish this recipe in a slow cooker:

6 slices bacon, diced

1 cup diced onion

2 15-oz cans pinto beans

2 15-oz cans navy beans

3/4 cup ketchup

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup molasses

1 tbsp cider vinegar

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp mustard (I use dijon)

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/4 tsp smoked paprika

Fry onions and bacon in skillet.  Drain grease.

Rinse and drain 2 cans of beans, stir into skillet.  Stir in other cans of beans with liquid.

Stir in rest of ingredients.

Pour into slow cooker and cook on low for 7 hours.

One more recipe for you.  This makes a lot (approx. 16 servings).....easy and good.  I did not add hot pepper sauce.  Taste of Home recipe from Farmhouse Favorites Cookbook.

Slow-Cooked Beans

4 cans (15 1/2 oz each) Great Northern Beans,

rinse and drain

4 cans (15 oz each) black beans, rinse and drain

2 cans (15 oz each) butter beans, rinse and drain

2 1/4 cups barbecue sauce

2 1/4 cups salsa

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 to 1 tsp. hot pepper sauce

In large slow cooker, gently combine all ingredients.  Cook, covered, on low until heated through, about 2 hours.

@walker

Approximately 16 serving??!!   With 92 oz of beans, seems like enough to serve a small army!!!😀😁

@vabreeze ...🤣....maybe I should  pass this recipe to the military!  Ha!  When I made it, we ate beans for breakfast, lunch and dinner!  Just kidding but I have not made it since and won't until I have a large gathering.  After I fixed it for just two of us, I thought....what were you thinking?🤣  I did freeze some and it worked out fine.

Any of you make baked beans without tomatoes, sauce, ketchup, etc.?

I tasted a brown baked bean dish at a gathering and it was sweet.  Sooooo good.  Never found out who made them.

Anyone make these?

I add a squirt of ketchup and barbeque sauce. Wonder if there was a lot of brown sugar in the beans you liked. My recipe calls for brown sugar, but also for some cider vinegar to make them tangy and not so sweet.

@Zhills

My guess is that baked bean dish had molasses and brown sugar.  I'm not a big tomato base/ketchup fan in baked beans.
