Everyone goes crazy for this. Only buy the imported provolone. Ask them to slice it thick (tell them you want to fry it). I put it in an ungreased, non stick pan and sauté. You will see it bubbling and harden. The color should turn from white to a light brown color. Flip and do the same on the other side. When it is cooked and well done, I put it on a paper towel, let cool and break it in pieces. It tastes like bacon. I used to make BLT sandwiches with it. Now I use it in sooo many other ways. The only problem is, it does not smell good but it's worth it.

@Coquille, do you do this because it's a healthier option?  The only bacon I buy is from Schwans Home Delivery, and we eat it sparingly.

Hi Auntg. Yes, I did it as a healthy option. My husband was eating to much fat and salt and someone told me about it. It's great but smells. We feel it's worth it.  If you are happy with what you buy, stick with it. Take care.

I love it!  I love burnt cheese.  I also make eggplant bacon.  It is made from eggplant, seasoning, and liquid smoke.  Here are some sites with great recipes for it.  It is a dead ringer for bacon, if you bake it right, and vegan and healthier and has all the wonders of veggies.

@TigrissOOoohh!   Guess what's going to show up as "ELT's" when the football game is on!  Those guys never look at what they're eating when they're watching the game!

Are Shwanns a good deal?. I not really big on home delivery but when I see a truck I am curious. I used to enjoy Jewel Tea Home delivery back in the 70's,. I purchased from them for years.They stopped by from Shwanns a few years back, gave me few products to try but were really angry when I didn't take the bait.

@BeccaLou

schwans has a lot of great products and their bacon is DELICIOUS!

you can order online and there is usually a coupon code for new customers.

you can also call to order and just order one thing if you want.

our driver stops by every two weks.
