Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I won't give up yet.  I think I will buy a Haas & slice it and try it with different spices. Maybe one will surprise me.

@grandma2pkmhAvocadoes are a fine source of fat for our diet, but they're also caloric and not that terribly good for us that I'd force myself to eat them if I didn't like them.  Just get your fats from oher good-for-you sources.

I've always loved them, but particularly the California Haas avocadoes.

I don't really do guacamole much because I know that some places put gross stuff like mayonnaise or sour cream in it (what the heck!!).   I used to make it myself, back when I entertained.    That stuff just doesn't belong in it - it should just be fresh ingredients and no gunk.  Maybe restaurants do that to stretch.  Who knows.

Take 2 slices of good soft,thick whole wheat bread and add mayo on both. Slice a ripe avocado and place on one slice.Add some thick slices of yummy ripe heirloom tomatoes and then a nice layer of alfalfa sprouts. Put it all together and enjoy the bestest sandwich ever!

I love avocados and find them great in place of mayo.  I make an egg sandwich in the AM and then slice an advocado and add.  I also put them into other sandwiches.  Bst with a little salt -right out of the skin,

@Vivian

By any chance, do you also have a latex allergy?

@grandma2pkmh  This is a Gaylord Hauser product, found in most larger health food stores as well as on-line, Amazon was last place I stocked up. Also found it at World Market (aka Cost Plus) HTH. Will try to post an image of the basic Spike, which has some salt...they also make unsalted, but recommend trying avocados with the regular Spike for a first time.

Great in casseroles, stews, soups, salads...adds so much more flavor but not overly spicy or salty IMHO. They also make VegeSalt which is crazy good but a bit more salty.Spike-Original-Magic-Gourmet-Natural-Seasoning-075820206161.jpg

When they first opened the Cheddar's Restaurant near me, they had a wonderful sandwich with grilled chicken breast and sliced avocado with a seasoned mayonnaise.  Sadly it didn't stay on the menu long, but I ate it every chance I had.

At home I usually just eat plain avocado sliced with a little lime juice sprinkled on it.

I'm still mourning a wonderful "How Do You Use Avocados Besides Guacamole" thread which was running here on Recipe Swap just before the last format change.  It had some great ideas but it went into the black hole of threads that didn't carry over before I got it copied.  Really Rotten Timing!

@HoneybitHow about grilled salmon on herbed spagetti noodles with sliced alvocado and sprinkled with Italian Dressing and fresh grated parmesian?
