I know avocados are good for you but I have not been able to like them. I'm not sure why I don't, but after several tries with different quacamoles I gave up.  Did you like them the first time you had them or did need to develop a taste for them?  How different do sliced avocados taste vs quacamole?

Have always LOVED avocados even when they were NOT good for you. Had them one time (at a dinner party) stuffed w/shrimp mixture and baked. Delicious! Like them in salad also.

I've always loved avocados right from the first time I tried them. To me, they have kind of a mild buttery, nutty flavor. I prefer just to eat them whole...not in guacamole.

I really like the Haas type, the dark bumpy one.  Not so much the green smooth skin.

When I first had them I thought the only way to eat them was with miracle whip S&P.

I didn't have guacamole until I was in my late 20s.  Late bloomer in the food department.  Now I like them prepared any which way, especially in a green salad.

The way I learned to like, then love avocados was with a specific seasoning

It is called Spike, and has tons of different herbs and spices, plus a little salt.

Sprinkle just a bit on the ripened avocado slice (Hass preferred), and it brings out the buttery and toasty notes...I think you will then enjoy it!

@KCFoxy Which Spike seasoning mix. I checked on line and there are 10 of them.  Also, where did you buy it. It appears it has to be ordered even at Walmart.

I have always loved avocados.  I often eat them sliced on toast with salt and pepper.  I chop them and add to salads.   Bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado sanwich on toast (better known as BLAT) is my favorite sandwich.

Do not buy pre-made quacamole.  They have to put chemicals in it to keep the avocado from getting brown.  Freshly made at home with lime juice is a different taste.  I only eat Haas avocados.

When they first opened the Cheddar's Restaurant near me, they had a wonderful sandwich with grilled chicken breast and sliced avocado with a seasoned mayonnaise.  Sadly it didn't stay on the menu long, but I ate it every chance I had.

At home I usually just eat plain avocado sliced with a little lime juice sprinkled on it.

I'm still mourning a wonderful "How Do You Use Avocados Besides Guacamole" thread which was running here on Recipe Swap just before the last format change.  It had some great ideas but it went into the black hole of threads that didn't carry over before I got it copied.  Really Rotten Timing!

I like avocados and love guacamole but, sadly, after I turned 40 I became allergic to avacados. It took awhile for me to realize that those violent gastro attacks I was having after eating guacamole was a reaction to avocados. I miss those yummy dishes but I do not miss getting sick.
