Artichokes are everywhere! Recipes please!

I normally can't afford artichokes in this neighborhood. They cost $3 and $4 each at times...but today they are everywhere and 2 for $3! I tried making them the way I remember my dad making them with garlic and oil, but yuck... I must've missed something. I need artichoke recipes if you have them.

By the way, I did cut the stems and tops with my electric knife and that was a helpful trick.
