@ECBG At the price of eggs, that may not be true nowdays.
I recently heard that Americans waste millions of dollars by throwing out food that is not bad but is at or past its " best if used by" date. That date doesn't mean the food is spoiled, it means its past its prime in appearance or texture but is safe to eat. We are overly cautious.

I go to the store to buy my eggs. I open the carton and move each one around. If they move in their cups and have no visual cracks I buy them. If any are Stuck in the cup I won't buy. It's probaby stuck down by leaked out egg white.
That way I know cracked egg happened between the store and my kitchen counter.
I'd never use a cracked egg if I didn't know when it happened.

this is my philosophy......and i am still alive to tell about it, never had a trip to the emergency room or urgent care.
i would sooner eat a cooked cracked egg than a raw oyster or sushi. LOL

@sunshine45 I'm right there with you. I won't even eat catfish which are bottom feeding garbage eaters.

I think I'd toss a cracked egg. I suppose if you hard boiled it, then it might be safe to eat.

NO ----I toss cracked eggs unless I did the cracking---way too iffy for me.

I absolutely throw it out. As comparatively cheap as eggs are, it just isn't worth the risk of a minor tummy ache to a serious problem. Did you know most eggs are contaminated with Salmonella?

Eggs are still cheap compared to other foods!
What is too high a price to pay to prevent food poisoning and maybe the ER or hospital??
Not worth the risk to me.

Toss them. Never use cracked eggs or eggs that float in water when I'm getting ready to hard boil them.
