With today's prices it's hard to throw out an egg. However, it just isn't worth the risk of serious illness or even a minor tummyache.

What if the cracked egg passes the floating test? Would that mean it was safe to eat or just mean it wasn't old? I think I just answered my own question.
Most toss a cracked egg and I have done so also.

Same here .... her reason was "bacteria gets in". Good enough reason for me to toss them.
