Sounds ""easy-peasy"" as some of the QVC hosts say. Will give it a try.

Sounds good! I'm going to try it. I have a cherry chip cake mix. I'll use cherry pie filling.

Not dump cake. Dump cake has no eggs.

I haven't seen cherry chip cake mix in a long time. We always made it in a heart shaped pan for Valentine's Day when I was a kid.

I pulled this from my Favorites thinking I might try this for a passing dessert dish tomorrow.

My question to any of those that have made this or something similar, does this cake require frosting? I have to run to the store and don't want to make 2 trips, if you know what I mean LOL.

TIA

There are many different cook books on dump cakes and even dump meals! I have a few and like them, but not all things can be successful just dumped. Keep that in mind before you go experimenting.

The cakes are great though. I like to add nuts to them as well.

I mean to add that I put the nuts in the cake mix top, so they are on the top with some crunch!!! I like blueberry and pineapple with a yellow cake mix or cherry and pineapple with yellow cake mix. I bet a pineapple and key lime cake mix would be good or a white cake mix with peaches!

Tigress - Thanks for the reply. Do you ever frost these cakes?

No. I'm not big on icing, but many others are. I looked at several that were iced with the pudding/whipped cream icing. I like to serve mine with ice cream while the cake is all warm and good!

Sounds simple and good to me! I have not seen this before either.

I've made a pumpkin dump cake with nuts on top several times, always a crowd pleaser. I just made last night two chocolate dump cakes, though i made chocolate pudding to add to the cake mix, and then mixed all together, instead of layering and layered chocolate chips on top. Made them for two easter get togethers. Hope they taste good, they are very rich and goey!

I've made this using apple pie filling and found that the apples got lost in all of the cake. Next time I'll use two cans of pie filling.
